Tell us about your company and what it does
We are global communicators as well as local conversationalists. We are independent in mind and in operation and our consultative approach means we often say “NO”. We deliver strategic campaigns with the ability to transform a client’s business. We are the gateway to the most influential international media in the world of travel - they are our friends (personally and professionally) and they are the reason we get top line results for our clients. Our main objective is to put clients first and keep them in the spotlight. We work together with our clients and their marketing teams to create tactics that will help them maximise their return on investment.

What role(s) are you recruiting for and what are their responsibilities?
We’re currently looking for an account manager or experienced senior account executive for our luxury travel team, as well as an account executive. Reporting to an account director and the MD, this is a thriving team where creativity, attention to detail, media relations and securing international press coverage is essential. We have all the contacts – we need the right people to help us deliver the results.
What kind of person are you looking for?
The successful candidate will be someone who wants to be responsible for dynamic results and achievements that they can celebrate. The role would suit an ambitious and independent thinking individual who is looking to develop their PR career by taking responsibility from the start.
What kind of career challenges are PR professionals currently facing?
I think the main challenge is finding the right place to work. A career in PR is now about many tactics and they all have to fit within the marketing mix. A marketing degree is helpful just to understand how PR works within it and appreciate that it cannot work on the outside. PR in the travel industry is hugely competitive as clients can switch agencies and find a better ‘deal’, so continually demonstrating your achievements to them is important.
Another challenge facing PR professionals is the need to think global and act local – the world is now a very small place and clients want access far beyond their own doorstep.
The demise of traditional journalism also presents some challenges, as well as many online opportunities. Having said that, we still stand up for print! In any case, it is still about talking to people – relying on impersonal emails is not the way to make friends and get them to be a third party influencer.
Creativity, attention to detail, media relations and securing international press coverage are essential to the success of Spotl1ght Communications' PR team.

We co-ordinate the global PR for International Luxury Travel Market – six events welcoming over 100 international media from all four corners of the world. We also look after many other luxury travel properties across the world – from Mexico to California to Italy to Africa.
