You will support CIPR public affairs campaigns and lobbying activities both in the UK and at the European Union level when necessary.
Duties
Monitor legislation, regulatory issues and the media for issues relating to public relations and the Institute.
Develop key messages, statements and rebuttal letters working closely with the CIPR Press Office.
Develop policies and best practice guidelines for members by working closely with steering groups and committees and by administrating consultation processes with members and the general public.
Manage external relations with stakeholders and government.
Responsible for supporting CIPR public affairs campaigns and lobbying activities both in the UK and at the European Union level when necessary.
Act as point of contact for non-UK based CIPR members and support international relations with other national PR associations, the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management and the European Confederation of Public Relations.
Work closely with Events department to plan, organise and deliver small / medium size events such as roundtables, policy launch events, or conferences.
Work with other professional bodies and interest groups on joint communications industry/sector projects and initiatives.
Support other activities and projects being carried out within the policy department.
Carry out any other duties that may arise from time to time in agreement with the Director General.
The Person
You will have previous experience working in a similar field and be educated to graduate level or equivalent, preferably in public relations or a related discipline in the social or political sciences.
The role requires that you have excellent organisational, communication, written and strategic skills with the ability to interact with a broad and diverse range of individuals. You will be able to drive forward ideas and have a proven track record of delivering public affairs projects.
You will have an understanding of the process and procedures for policy creation and development, as well as the knowledge of the structure and governance of professional bodies.
Experience of legislation and media monitoring as well as in managing public affairs campaigns is essential together with a keen interest in politics.
