QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong experience in public affairs counselling at senior management level.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of managing pan-regional public affairs programmes and optimising relations with key decision makers in the region.
- A detailed understanding of public affairs in at least one CEMEA sub-region and the ability to replicate this in others;
- experience of monitoring and management of corporate issues;
- A detailed knowledge of the constraints and imperatives of working in a high-profile listed company.
- Ability to lead and facilitate work on complicated strategic issues - managing own and cross-functional teams - that may result in changes affecting organisation either internally or externally.
- Ability to challenge established views and assumptions at all levels including senior management, facilitating and leading discussion and debate and supporting decision-making.
- Multi-cultural sensitivity and interpersonal relationship management, including the ability to work effectively within Visa CEMEA matrix structure, between Visa regions and with Global staff.
- Capability to achieve results through influence rather than power/control.
- Professional and confident with the ability to maintain good communication with wide internal and external audiences.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to communicate complex strategic issues to senior internal management and international bankers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and implement pan-regional and local market public affairs programmes to raise understanding and support for Visa in key markets.
- Provide direct regional input into global public affairs strategy formulation. Act as a key member of the global PA executive. Provides similar contributions to global government relations activities (part of Legal group in global structure).
- Build and maintain relationships with key influencers, including politicians, regulators and other senior influencers.
- Provide direct support and counsel to General Managers and develop and maintain a pubic affairs programme for key country managers. This should aim both to increase the influence that they have on these audiences and to provide a reliable intelligence network for the organisation.
- Monitor, record and manage contacts with PA audiences across the region.
- Develop robust positions on key public affairs issues.
- Manage PA agencies within the region to maximise effectiveness of the service they provide.
- Develop and implement evaluation programmes which measure the effectiveness of public affairs activities on an on-going basis.
JOB PURPOSE
- Define and implement CEMEA public affairs strategy to raise awareness of and preference for Visa amongst audiences including government (politicians and officials), regulators, central banks and other influencer groups.
- Provide professional public affairs support to General Managers, country managers and their teams and the head of corporate communication.
- Implement robust issues management processes and positions.
- Act as corporate spokesperson for the CEMEA region where appropriate.
