The Department for International Development (DFID)
Leading the British government’s fight against world poverty.
Press Officers
£31,882 - £43,938
London
DFID is looking for energetic and creative people to fill vacancies in its press office.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy 24/7 press office. We work both reactively and proactively to show taxpayers the great results British aid is achieving around the world.
You will brief ministers and accompany them to interviews and visits. You will answer media enquiries and draft press releases and other communications material. Like all Whitehall press officers you will aim to be ‘digital by default’.
You will work closely with departmental officials to spot story opportunities and sell in stories to the international, national and regional media.
As Senior Press Officer you will lead a small team and act as the first point of contact for a departmental policy area.
Some overseas travel will be required and you will be expected to take part in our out of hours duty rota.

DFID is an equal opportunities employer and selection is on merit. Candidates should be UK nationals, nationals of a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA), Swiss or Turkish nationals or Commonwealth citizens.
The closing date is 31 August 2012.
