NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a Special Health Authority responsible for ensuring the safe and secure supply of blood, stem cells, tissues and organs to the NHS; and promoting all forms of donation in order to save and improve the lives of patients. These are crucial areas of health policy which affect the lives of thousands every year, so there is naturally a high level of political and stakeholder interest in our work and opportunities for partnership working.
We are looking for a high calibre candidate with a strong track record in leading teams across public affairs, stakeholder engagement and partnership development, to provide maternity leave cover for a period of approximately one year. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the implementation of strategies in these areas including proactive parliamentary engagement; stakeholder events and contact programmes; development of mutually beneficial partnerships to promote donation with organisations in the public, voluntary and private sectors; as well as providing high level advice to Executive and Board level.
As an experienced communications professional, you’ll have a strong, instinctive approach to engagement, relationship development and reputation management. You will be an effective leader with the ability to motivate and inspire others. You’ll have an excellent knowledge of the workings of central government and policy development, extensive stakeholder relations experience and ideally, an understanding of health policy and the NHS. Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about working with others to promote the lifesaving potential of donation.
Closing Date – Wednesday, 19th December, 2012.
Interviews will be held on 3rd and 4th January, 2013 in London.
