What we need

As Government Affairs Adviser you will support senior NFU staff and officeholders, as required, and act on own initiative to advocate NFU’s policies, within government institutions, parliamentarians and to other external organisations.  You will also lobby in the NFU’s best interests.  In addition to this you will act in support of the Senior Parliamentary Adviser, and assist the organisation of the London Office.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent) is essential, as is agricultural and horticultural knowledge.  An ability to understand the issues facing the industry is fundamental.

The ideal candidate will be able to communicate with internal and external stakeholders, along with having the ability to influence and make engaging public presentations to a range of audiences.

An ability to provide relevant and accurate information within set timeframes is critical to this role.  An imaginative problem solver and team player, you will have the ability and enthusiasm to manage a diverse and challenging workload whilst remaining calm and organised under pressure.
