We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive press officer to help raise the profile of World Horse Welfare, the leading international horse charity.
Reporting to the Director of Communications the role requires that you have recent journalistic experience or training along with excellent writing and interpersonal skills. You will have a good nose for a story, be able to write copy to tight deadlines and use your creativity to spot opportunities to promote the charity. The successful applicant will be a self-starter with an understanding of print, broadcast and online media. Knowledge of and contacts within the national and/or equine press are highly desirable but not essential.
Working within a communications team of 7 you will be responsible for proactively developing and implementing strategies that not only promote our good work in the media but engage celebrities, particularly in the UK but also internationally. This includes identifying and building relationships with the relevant journalists, editors and celebrities, writing and distributing press releases, helping to develop media campaigns and seeking other opportunities to promote the charity.
