PR and Social Media Intern

RichmondUnspecified

Department: Marketing

Location: Richmond, London

Notonthehighstreet.com is pleased to introduce a PR and Social Media Intern programme. We're looking for motivated interns to work closely with our PR and social media teams as part of a full-time placement for three months. Each successful candidate will support the day-to-day tasks required to keep these departments running efficiently, and have the opportunity to learn invaluable skills within two disciplines that can offer ample opportunity for career development.

Our internships are offered for three months, with four intakes a year: in February, May, August and November. We are currently looking for a candidate to start as soon as possible.

If you're selected, you'll be supporting the PR Assistant in a number of key tasks based around promoting our company, the small businesses who sell with us and their products to the press and wider public. This will include handling incoming product images and sample requests, and logging and tracking the movement of these, liaising with sellers (and the relevant internal team) when they receive coverage, and purchasing print media publications when notonthehighstreet.com receivescoverage, before uploading it onto our dedicated press area. There's also a wider support need for the PR team with an ongoing requirement for daily media and industry research. As well as that, you'll be assisting in the production of seasonal look books and other PR initiatives for product PR and helping to implement our blogger outreach programme.

The other side to this internship is the social media aspect and as part of this you'll work with the Social Media and Online Content Manager to produce blog posts from written briefs, execute social media posts on Facebook, Twitter and other key social channels and assist with research into new and emerging social platforms. You'll also be responsible for updating social media reporting documents and ensuring figures are reported weekly, as well as offering ad hoc campaign and general support to the PR and social media teams in their mission to maximise opportunities for our business.

We're looking for an enthusiastic person with a keen interest in e-commerce, retail and the media, as well as excellent content-writing abilities. You should have strong Microsoft Office skills and be familiar with the functionality of key social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. A familiarity with Google Apps would be useful, but not essential. We need someone with an exceptional attitude, who wants to work hard and quickly become a dedicated member of the team, and who has a positive and enthusiastic approach. Accuracy, attention to detail and good communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical and we will be appraising applications with this in mind.
