GSK is one of Britain’s biggest companies and sustains considerable media interest and consistent reporting by business, social/political, consumer affairs, health, and science journalists. This reporting directly impacts the reputation of GSK, its products and its people, influencing the company’s key stakeholders: governments, regulators, investors, analysts, doctors, patients, NGOs, and employees. Global Media Relations are responsible for protecting and strengthening GSK’s reputation by managing relationships, newsflow and issues with national, international print and broadcast media; and global newswires.
The purpose of this role is to create and execute a proactive external communications programme to clearly articulate the global business strategy for GSK’s Consumer Healthcare business. This will not only include key global business and consumer press, but also use of a broad range of other global external channels including digital and social platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube) as well as GSK.com and GSK’s annual report.
This role requires proven external communications experience and media relations skills, sound judgment and a clear understanding of the consumer, business and pharmaceutical environments. The role is globally focused and, given its breadth, the individual will need to have excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills. The role will also involve high-profile issues management to effectively minimise threats to company reputation.
