South East Water supplies drinking water to 2.1 million customers across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. Daily, we supply 565 million litres of drinking water along more than 14,000 kilometres of mains to our customers’ taps.
In this challenging role based at Snodland, it will be your responsibility to ensure a positive image of South East Water through proactive and reactive media and public relations activities, both in and out of normal hours, with particular emphasis on ensuring there is adequate customer communications during Capital Programme schemes and emergency incidents.
Working closely with the Engineering Delivery and Metering teams, you will ensure there are well established programmes of customer and stakeholder engagement in place for all capital programme schemes, with positive PR opportunities exploited and publicised.
Managing a team of four Communication Officers you will also deliver the media relations programme for South East Water. This will include helping to identify positive news stories for South East Water and produce press releases/articles for the media. You will also manage the reactive response to media contact both in and out-of-hours ensuring that journalists are responded to quickly and that relevant senior staff are aware of media issues and relevant company statements.
You will need to display good interpersonal skills when dealing with people from across the social and political spectrum, as well as a commitment both in terms of responsibility, availability and flexibility.
With a degree (or equivalent) in PR, Communications or a related discipline, you’ll be able to help increase understanding of our water supply work, our capital investment programme and in turn improve the reputation of the Company.
