Media Relations Manager – Financial Services
c £50,000 plus benefits
A pivotal role with a recently restructured organisation for which you will take the lead in media relations in order to build and maintain the reputation of two key divisions, ensuring that its spokespeople are recognised as the first port of call for journalists across industry issues and maximising a range of media channels and platforms to reach target audiences.
With a track record in generating national media coverage and with a keen appreciation of news, you will bring substantial experience of leading a press office, building relations with leading journalists, and assimilating complex issues and crafting engaging, accessible copy. Expertise in handling sensitive issues is a must and you’ll provide a robust, efficient media response service – acting as spokesperson on occasion - as well as develop proactive campaigns to support key initiatives.
An ability to think and act strategically is essential and you will use your political and commercial insight to apply scrutiny to policy positions, and challenge and advise colleagues on media engagement. Strong writing skills are a prerequisite and you will champion the use of Plain English across the organisation, building strong relations with internal stakeholders and ensuring that media relations activity is aligned with broader communications initiatives. Experienced gained in financial services would be a plus.
