Sport England’s primary outcome is to get more people doing more sport and to deliver a lasting sporting legacy from the 2012 Games. We are looking for a creative yet meticulous editor to manage a database-driven marketing programme designed to deliver the London 2012 legacy by engaging directly with around 5 million people who signed up to receive regular updates from London 2012.
Based at Sport England which is working with a consortium to manage the database and accompanying newsletter, the editor will be responsible for all aspects of the programme. You will combine creative flair with excellent planning and strong influencing skills.
In this role your key responsibilities will be to work with data managers to understand subscribers’ preferences, behaviours and triggers and translate this into an editorial vision and plan for implementation by creating and commissioning high-quality, compelling and exclusive content. You will liaise with contributors and the consortium’s Editorial Board and managing a virtual team of section editors prior to creating, proofing and despatching each publication.
You will have excellent writing, subbing and proofreading skills with experience of working in journalism or a copywriting role and a proven ability to construct informative and engaging copy for a wide range of audiences that results in behaviour change. You will have the ability to commission high quality written, video and audio content and experience of digital publishing and producing email newsletters and working with content management systems. Knowledge of at least one of the sporting, cultural, volunteering and arts sectors would be helpful
