In the role of Press Officer you will be the first point of contact for day-to-day media enquiries and in addition be pro-active in spotting and taking advantage of opportunities for the organisation to gain media coverage. This will be achieved through the identification of key journalists in the sector and developing positive relationships.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the communications team and the orgainsation to identify news angles that might arise from their work and to plan ahead to maximise opportunities for publicity and raise awareness of evidence-based messages.
In addition you will build and maintain a database of media contacts (currently Gorkana) as well as key stories and monitor the media for items relevant to the organisation’s areas of interest. You will also monitor the media and log any organisational mentions for analysis so to contribute to the development and implementation of the press engagement strategy.
Finally you develop new content (e.g. blogs, articles, tweets) and contribute to social media initiatives.
