Purpose

To manage audience targeted campaigns and co-ordinate marketing and public relations activities to increase understanding and support of the Cairngorms National Park and the Cairngorms National Park Authority as an organisation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Communications and Engagement Directorate with the development and delivery of the  Communication and Engagement Strategy
  2. Manage an agreed calendar of marketing and PR campaigns (including social media) to promote the Park, the role of the Park Authority and National Park Partnership Plan projects
  3. Work with key partners, including VisitScotland and the Cairngorms Business Partnership, on co-ordinated marketing and PR campaigns for the Park that supports local and national opportunities
  4. Generate content for social media channels to engage with audiences
  5. Support the Communications & Campaigns Manager with the reporting of marketing and PR activities to demonstrate delivery against the Corporate Plan and National Park Partnership Plan
  6. Deliver media (including social media)training, advice and support for staff and board members
  7. Identify and manage relationships with key media and relevant partners
  8. Support the corporate public relations work when required including both proactive & re-active media relations and issues management
  9. Attend board meetings and support any public relations requirements for them

Person Specification: - Knowledge, experience and training

ESSENTIAL

  • Experience of working with national and specialist media
  • Experience of delivering marketing and public relations campaigns to engage with identified target audience
  • Experience of market segmentation and campaign planning/strategy
  • Experience of working with social media to engage with identified target audience
  • Sound understanding of social media channels and awareness of emerging new media
  • Experience of managing or co-ordinating a variety of projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good proactive networker outside and inside the organisation
  • Good team player
  • Initiative, vision and drive to develop the role and work of the group
  • Full UK driving licence or access to a driver if disability prevents driving

DESIRABLE

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in public relations or marketing or related discipline
  • Understanding of issues relating to the Cairngorms National Park
  • Experience of corporate public relations and issues management
