Give your career some wings at west London’s campaigning council

Hounslow is a vibrant, diverse and entrepreneurial borough and with Heathrow on our doorstep, we are the gateway to the world as well as London.

Here at the council we’ve evolved a communications style to fit the borough’s ambitions - campaigning on the issues which matter most to the people who live here, work here or visit us every day.

You’ll be the lynchpin of our corporate communications team, managing a team of three people and liaising with colleagues and partners as you define, deliver and evaluate a busy programme of campaigns.

In this role you’ll be leading campaigns for a better deal for residents on noise from Heathrow Airport, tackling anti-social behaviour and breaking new ground in how we deliver social care and community safety.

Internally, we need someone to inspire staff to be a part of our transformation, embracing new approaches to service delivery and new technology to help us become a lean, agile, customer-focused council.

You’ll have a track record of delivering class-leading communications to residents, businesses, public and voluntary sector and central government audiences and of course staff.

The role is offered on the basis of a one-year fixed-term contract or a secondment.

Contact Andy Allsopp, Head of Communications, for an informal discussion on 020 8583 2180 or email: andy.allsopp@hounslow.gov.uk

Closing date: Friday 30 August 2013.
Interview date: Wednesday 11 September 2013.
