Horizon Nuclear Power is developing a utility business which will build and operate a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. We’re seeking an exceptional candidate to lead the development of our public policy and national stakeholder relationships as part of a growing close-knit team, and against the backdrop of parent company Hitachi’s broader UK external affairs strategy.
Horizon Nuclear Power Ltd is currently the focus of major interest from politicians, financial and industry players and the media, making this Policy and External Affairs Manager an exciting and high profile role (both within the company and externally). The position will report to the Head of Corporate Affairs and will manage an external agency and a small team.
Main accountabilities will include:
*External policy development and co-ordination
*Company and executive profile building
*Development of long term relationships with critical political and industry stakeholders
*Media relations and the development of compelling information about Horizon’s goals and activities.
The successful candidate will bring drive, gravitas, strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, a strategic approach and a focus on delivery. They will be educated to degree level or equivalent and will be likely to have substantive experience in communications functions with an emphasis on public affairs and policy/positioning.
Previous work in complex and high profile businesses is an advantage. High ethical standards and experience of working with confidential and sensitive information is a must. The successful candidate will have proven ability to balance long-term strategic priorities with fast-moving issues management. Energy or nuclear industry experience is desirable but not essential.
