Horizon Nuclear Power is developing a utility business which will build and operate a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. We’re seeking an experienced communicator who can help build enduring relationships between the company and the communities where we intend to operate. Horizon will invest billions of pounds in infrastructure projects which will become major features of the local community for decades to come.
The Communications Manager role is richly rewarding and challenging with a requirement to build internal consensus on strategies, and manage a range of external stakeholders, from near neighbours to local politicians. The position has two full time direct reports: a head office-based communications executive and a North Wales-based stakeholder relations manager.
The main accountability for the Communications Manager over this timeframe will be the delivery of a successful, large scale, formal public consultation on our plans for new nuclear power development on Anglesey.
The ideal candidate will have experience of:
- Managing complex projects
- Delivering high quality, accurate information appropriately to diverse audiences via a number of platforms (for example, printed materials, events, and via news, electronic and social media).
We’re looking for a talented individual who can make an early business contribution and rapidly get up to speed in this Communications Manager assignment. Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will preferably be familiar with development projects, or companies and facilities with a high community profile and impact. You need to be a naturally engaging and persuasive communicator, skilled at building consensus and developing relationships to be successful in this role.
