Our client is a high profile trade association representing members active in an issues rich and complex consumer facing industry. They are seeking an interim Director of Public Affairs for a six month period.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead a small team to deliver best-in-sector results for the association’s members, many of whom are major household names with demanding requirements.
The role will have responsibility for leading all political engagement work, for devising an executing engagement campaigns and for managing the association’s activity across all three party conferences. The Budget is a major point in our client’s political cycle; playing a leading role in the engagement work ahead of next year’s will be a fundamental task for the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record of parliamentary campaigns, and be able to demonstrate tangible success in influencing opinion across Westminster, Whitehall, and with key figures in the media.
They will be a strategic campaigner who recognises the importance of engaging with a broad base of stakeholders in achieving change, as well as experienced in directing the media and PR components of integrated campaigns. An established network of cross-party political networks would be a distinct advantage, as would experience with a trade body or similar body (although this is not essential).
