PR Officer - Central London
Approx. 18 month contract.
The primary objective of the Kennel Club is to improve in every way the welfare, health, and general well being of all dogs throughout their lives, by means of various research and educational programmes, and our charitable trust. The Kennel Club is an organisation committed to promoting and protecting dogs’ varied roles in society and defending the interests of all dog owners.
Reporting to the Kennel Club Public Relations Manager you will assist in the public relations for the Kennel Club promoting all Kennel Club services in a consistent, quality image which is sympathetic to the Club’s mission statement.
You will be required have experience of writing press releases and features, and of handling media queries promptly and appropriately. You will have demonstrable experience of managing creative media campaigns and utilising a wide range of PR techniques to gain effective coverage. The ideal candidate will need a working knowledge of national, local, trade and social media and their audiences and how to gain coverage in them. You will be able to work independently and to multi-task, working effectively to tight deadlines and have an excellent eye for detail. The ideal candidate will have experience of working on PR campaigns surrounding events.
You will need previous experience of working within PR and will need to be very well organised. Knowledge of dealing with formal Committees is desired. You will have proven organisational and writing skills and will be an excellent communicator, able to effectively liaise at all levels. Strong IT skills are a must which will include knowledge of media contacts databases and how to analyse coverage and create evaluation reports.
