It’s an exciting time for Edelman Health London. Our team has grown significantly over the past few years and we work on creative and inspiring business with world leading clients. We do much more than traditional pharma public relations; for years now we have forged ahead in wider areas such as market access, public policy and consumer health communications.

We’re looking for a creative, ambitious director to become part of our senior leadership team and help us lead and inspire our fantastic team, bring new insights to our clients and push into new areas of business that complement our existing portfolio of work.

The Role

This role centres around three main areas of leadership:

  1. Support and counsel to team
  2. Advice and counsel to clients
  3. New business development

1.  Support and counsel to team

  • Lead by example through approach to quality service, client counsel, work-life balance and inspiring positive behaviours
  • Coach and mentor team to help them achieve client and personal goals
  • Instill high quality service culture and skills in your teams
  • Pressure test the strategic approaches, creativity and planned implementation of your teams
  • Supportively stretch teams to broaden their skills
  • Train team to counsel clients utilising Edelman’s Intellectual Property
  • Identify, navigate around or troubleshoot team issues
  • Line manage and become role model for 2-4 team members
  • Work alongside health leadership team to encourage team development and high motivation

2.  Advice and counsel to client

  • Counsel clients on optimal brand promotion across the marketing mix as well as health public relations
  • Advise clients how to engage with their audiences to deliver client success
  • Secure client trust in your leadership with compelling counsel based in extensive campaign experience
  • Help clients take appropriate risks by demonstrating the pay-off of using innovative approaches
  • Understand what is needed as well as what is wanted and coach clients appropriately
  • Navigate impacts on success within the client company and implement appropriate strategies
  • Monitor emerging environmental and client trends to ensure timely Edelman counsel
  • Ensure client always gets the best team skills mix (drawing from Edelman expertise in health, digital, consumer, medical education, corporate reputation, planning and insights, public affairs and content production)
  • Ideally the candidate will have experience in areas outside the traditional marketed life of a pharmaceutical brand e.g. early science strategy, market access communications, health public affairs and post-patent brand maintenance
  • A mix of global and UK experience plus  experience in consumer health, public health and disease awareness would also be an advantage
  • Work alongside health leadership to ensure campaign innovation, navigate client challenges and deliver optimal results across the health business

3.  New business development

  • Network Edelman at key industry events
  • Increase awareness of Edelman and our vision amongst target clients
  • Promote Edelman’s Intellectual Properties to prospects
  • Generate new business leads
  • Convert leads through compelling and commercially minded new business proposals
  • Coach team in new business skills
  • Ensure new business and feedback tools and processes are optimal
  • Work alongside health leadership to increase networking, lead generation and strength of new business proposals
  • Work alongside health leadership to develop appropriate products, services and approaches that help Edelman capitalise on environmental and client trends
