Lead Communication Officer
Up to £31,180
About the role
Working in our Organisational Capability division, you will be responsible for communicating programmes and initiatives that will help our people to up-skill, improve their knowledge and, ultimately, help ONS to deliver a great service.
An engaging, credible communicator, your focus will be on high quality content which delivers positive outcomes. Managing and developing a team of three, you’ll have a broad range of internal communication channels to work with and manage, including the ONS intranet, ONSi, and news service, ONS.Daily. But that’s not to say that you’re limited to these alone. We will look to you to gain insight into our staff communication usage, needs and preferences and use this insight to formulate and deliver tailored communication plans. Of course, you will need to ensure that we have feedback mechanisms in place too, and that we are monitoring the effectiveness of all internal communication activities.
Face-to-face communications are important to ONS. Building strong relationships and networks with senior colleagues and stakeholders, you will champion the vital role that internal communication has to play in helping the ONS achieve its goals and objectives.
Energetic and delivery-focused, credible and creative, you’re an experienced communication professional. A relevant and recognised PR, marketing or journalism qualification (CIPR diploma, CIM diploma, NQJ/NCE, for example) should be complemented by practical corporate, internal or marketing communications experience. Regardless of background, it is important that you can show where you have successfully communicated change, incentives, initiatives and updates to a large and varied audience. In addition to people management experience, you must have the ability to build strong, lasting relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
