Public Affairs Manager
This is a new permanent role at the National Pawnbrokers Association, a national trade body, reporting to the Chief Executive. The Public Affairs Manager working with the Chief Executive, will be responsible for external relations strategy, policy and campaigning work, by developing campaigns, lobbying Parliament, and building political relationships.
-Strategic policy development and leadership
- Liaison and development of relationships with key stakeholders in parliament
- Devising and implementing campaigns
- Maintaining an excellent knowledge of the policy and legislative background relevant to pawnbroking and alternative credit market.
-Strong track record, over a number of years, in developing and delivering lobbying and relationship building activity, thereby creating positive outcomes.
-Experience of influencing Westminster Parliament, UK government and the legislative process, and of regularly demonstrating good political judgment.
-Understanding the most effective and appropriate campaigning methods for different target groups, including social media
-Excellent communication skills, including written, oral, influencing, and presentation skills with the ability to inspire and engage internal and external audiences on complex topics.
-Previous experience engaging with FCA, OFT, Treasury or BIS is helpful but not essential.
-Educated to degree level with an interest in politics
