UNICEF works in more than 190 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. The world’s largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.
As Official Charity Partner to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, UNICEF UK aims to transform children’s lives across the Commonwealth. We plan to use the Games as a platform from which we can communicate issues affecting children and ultimately generate millions of pounds in donations to support UNICEF programmes across the Commonwealth. As Media Manager, you will help develop and implement the media strategy for the partnership in the run up to, and including, Games-time activity.
You will identify key activation moments, develop and deliver media plans and tactics, and engage with national and, where relevant, international media. You will assist in delivering all the media coverage around the partnership, including establishing strong working relationships with key contacts and stakeholders. Some international travel may be required.
With proven experience acting as the lead media contact for external partnerships, ideally in a major event environment, you will have developed and implemented high profile media strategies and secured effective coverage, preferably on large international sports events or sports initiatives. You will also be an effective communicator who can develop highly productive working relationships with journalists, key influencers and supporters.
