Join us here and you’ll be tackling some of the most challenging and high profile issues in Government communications.
We need proactive people to produce clear, engaging communications, provide trusted advice to Ministers and officials and develop productive relationships with a wide range of media contacts. We’ll expect you to work closely with our partners to deliver effective long term communication plans and strategies: organising visits and interviews, developing a good knowledge of our policy areas and using it to communicate complex technical information to journalists in plain English. Raising our digital and online media profile will be a key priority.
To succeed you’ll need a natural “nose” for a good story and an in depth understanding of how the media works. Your experience of delivering proactive and reactive communications could have been gained in a busy press or PR office or another media news environment. Proven ability to provide high quality media handling advice, build strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues and work to deadlines in a fast moving environment will be essential. To this you’ll add a sound grasp of digital and social media technologies and a highly creative approach.
