The Company:

We are working with a content-led broadcast PR consultancy based in the heart of Soho. The agency has its own radio and webcasting studios, a full video production suite, and a bunch of very skilled, very driven and very nice people. The team is made up of former journalists, video and audio production people, and PRs with a keen eye for content and storytelling. Their client portfolio offers the chance to work on a huge range of exciting projects; they include big brands, top 150 PR agencies, charities and public sector bodies.

The Role:

This great agency is looking for a talented news storyteller and content creator with a background in broadcast/multimedia journalism and/or PR to join the team as a Broadcast Consultant. The position is at mid-level management and you’ll play a vital role in their existing team of ten. The job is varied, spanning: Account Management, Content Development and Production, Media Relations, Team Management and Business Development, including:

Account Management

  • Leading projects from inception to completion working with clients throughout.

  • Dealing with issues efficiently.

  • Attending existing client meetings to provide advice, take briefings and give debriefs.

    Media Relations

  • Developing contacts across national TV and radio where they do not currently have them.

  • Developing contacts at the new local TV stations.

  • Providing quality control to news copy across the company’s accounts (including content, spelling and grammar).

  • Pitching stories, guests, video and other content across national and regional TV, radio and online media – this is a vital part of the role.

    Team Management

  • Working with Account Director to manage the team and resources.

  • Training and development of staff in effective cue writing, pitching , news production and best practice.

    News and Content Development

  • Identifying broadcast opportunities (the budget, auto-enrolment etc.) for existing and potential clients.

  • Developing content (surveys and newshooks) and prospective news or features packages for existing and potential clients.

  • Overseeing and/or producing VNR and/or B-Roll shoots which have a news element to them.

  • Assisting Head of Production and sourcing crews where relevant.

    Business Development

  • Attending new business pitches with the Directors or BDM to present their services and case studies.

  • Where suitable, speaking on behalf of the company at awards, client training sessions etc..

  • Targeting existing, relevant contacts with details of their offering.

  • Whilst you will not be measured against new business targets, staff do receive commission on business won.

    The Candidate:

  • Desired Skills and Experience

  • You understand broadcast journalism and have, preferably, been at the deep end of the industry.

  • You can sniff out a good story on a range of subjects, across news and features.

  • You know how to write copy that will engage the media – and you don’t ‘do’ typos.

  • You’re able to put your story ideas across to people, in this case clients and the media.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Client facing experience and the ability to remain calm in a crisis is essential.

  • You can help us make the consultancy’s staff even better than they already are.

    Benefits:
