PR and Communications Officer
Somerset County Council’s Communications Team is responsible for enhancing and protecting the authority’s reputation. We work to make sure our tax payers know what the Council does for them and to keep our staff and partners well-informed about our work and priorities.
We are looking for a creative self-starter who can join our team and add to our skills and enthusiasm. Excellent writing and people skills are essential, as are strong IT skills, tact and diplomacy. You will need experience in communications and marketing and a good grasp of social media and new media.
We’re looking for a great all-rounder. Someone who will be equally at home advising senior managers on hot media issues and planning integrated campaigns as they are writing articles for our staff newsletter. Experience and skills in public engagement and stakeholder management would be an asset.
Building good working relationship inside and outside the Council is key and you must be able to cope with the competing deadlines and diverse workload that comes with working in a busy media office.
