Canterbury Cathedral is a working church of local, national and global significance. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury and historic pilgrimage spanning 1,400 years. The Cathedral’s stunning architecture and its unique role in the nation’s history have inspired generations and currently attracts more than a million visitors a year to the city of Canterbury.
The Cathedral has recently been awarded Stage 2 funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop a £24.7 million project entitled, The Canterbury Journey, which will radically transform the way people access and use the Cathedral, its historic collections, buildings and environs.
The project team is now seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Communications Officer to be the Cathedral’s lead on the delivery and implementation of the communications and marketing based elements using a full range of communication channels.
The successful candidate will act as an advocate of The Canterbury Journey, building relations with key internal and external stakeholders and producing a range of high quality written communications for different audiences.
Applicants will be educated to degree level, hold sound experience of working in a communications function, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong working knowledge of social media platforms and the ability to lead creative thinking.
This exciting 5 year full time role will require someone who has the ability to inspire and engage others through various communication platforms; enhancing the profile of The Canterbury Journey.
