Salary package ranging from £39,031 to £52,795 (plus London supplement) depending on qualifications and experience

We currently have a vacancy for a PUBLIC RELATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER to be based in our London representative office. This new role has been created to increase public awareness of the Falkland Islands and to improve our media and public outreach. The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for preparing and implementing a dynamic and proactive annual public relations and communications strategy for the United Kingdom, Europe and the U.S.A. using traditional and digital communications techniques.
The UK Public Relations Manager must be innovative, driven, responsive and politically astute, able to deliver on objectives determined in consultation with the Falkland Islands’ UK Representative, FIG staff and elected Members. The successful candidate will be accustomed to working autonomously and with minimal supervision.
This position is suited to an engaging, energetic and experienced public relations and communications practitioner with strong strategic planning and evaluation skills and a flexible approach to work. Previous experience in working under a matrix reporting structure will be helpful. Essential criteria for applicants include, as a minimum, being educated to first degree level and holding a formal postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject, with at least 5 years relevant experience working in a public relations and/or marketing role, with a minimum of 3 years in a UK setting. Applicants should also have a strong understanding of the importance of digital platforms, social media and digital diplomacy.
The position is offered on a two year contract, which may be extended by mutual agreement.
