Senior Digital Communications Officer
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an international not-for-profit organisation with a mission to safeguard our oceans and seafood supplies. By promoting ocean sustainability we contribute to global efforts to improve long-term food security, maintain and strengthen livelihoods, and ensure healthy oceans now and for generations to come.
Our certification and ecolabelling programme empowers fishers, retailers and consumers to demonstrate their commitments to sustainable seafood. We work in a diverse multi-stakeholder environment: from working alongside scientists and environmental NGOs; to recognising and incentivising change within the fishing industry; to partnering with major retailers and brands to grow consumer awareness and understanding of sustainable seafood. Ours is a fast paced environment, which requires managing multiple priorities and working with numerous partners to find joint solutions.
Successful communications and marketing is vital to driving awareness and use of the MSC label. As a result, we’re overhauling our digital channels to ensure they effectively tell our story and that stakeholders find it easy to understand and support our work.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Digital Communications Officer to support our Head of Digital & Innovation in managing and delivering digital communications tools.
You’ll join the MSC at an exciting time as we embark on a complete overhaul of our Content Management System. This project will upgrade our website to a consumer-facing platform, with a greater focus on photography, film and story-telling; improved usability, greater functionality and social media integration.
Our global website, msc.org currently supports 15 languages and is managed by staff in 18 offices. You’ll have the opportunity to work with communications colleagues from around the world, and be able to train, influence and guide them on how to use the new CMS to develop local content.
You will be a core part of the team delivering this major project, liaising with suppliers, managing acceptance testing and coordinating migration of our existing websites onto a single consolidated platform.
You’ll also work collaboratively with the Global Communications and Marketing team and technical specialists to build and manage global digital assets which support the MSC’s vision and mission.
You’ll be responsible for commissioning, developing and coordinating multimedia content, championing the adoption of digital tools across the organisation.
This exciting and challenging role will give you the opportunity to work alongside science, marketing, digital, media and brand specialist colleagues.
The role is based in our conveniently located office in central London, with occasional travel to support colleagues outside the UK.
