If you want to be part of a team tackling some of the biggest and most exciting challenges in communications and really want to make a difference, we want to hear from you.

We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated and comfortable working autonomously in a high pressure environment – reacting quickly and confidently to developing issues and breaking news.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is the UK government’s biggest operational department with 80,000 colleagues delivering services to over 20 million people.

It is implementing the biggest changes to welfare for a generation and our people are radically transforming the way they offer those services to the public.
Unsurprisingly we feature in the national media almost every day.
Proactivity and creativity are key in this role, as is a keen sense of judgement.
You will need to develop strong, constructive relationships with journalists.
You will also need to identify imaginative and proactive ways to get our policies into the news and consider how to stimulate public debate across a variety of media channels.

In all the roles some of the material we deal with is technical and complicated, so you will require an aptitude for assimilating complex information quickly and explaining it in relatable ways.

You will also need to develop a good understanding of the workings of Whitehall, Parliamentary procedure, devolution and propriety.

Out of hours working is a key feature of this role and requires the job holder to provide high quality communications within very short timescales across a wide portfolio of work.

Closing date: 24 March 2019.
