About the FSA

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) is an independent non-governmental body which regulates all providers of financial services in the UK. In 2013, the FSA will become two new authorities: the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). Internal communications will be vital during this transition – which means you will have a key role to play.

About the role

This is a hugely exciting time to join us, as we implement one of the biggest change programmes currently underway in UK financial services. We want our staff to hear the right messages at the right moment, so we can build the right culture for the future. We want you to help us by providing senior figures (including the COO) with strategic advice and producing the highest quality internal communications. You will be an Advisor to Operations and sit within our central Internal Communications team, tackling internal comms strategies; coaching internal clients; and making the most of a range of channels, including our brand new intranet. You’ll also be involved in organising, promoting and measuring effectiveness of internal events. It’s an opportunity to use your creativity as we move to a consumer focus. Strategic thinking and the ability to see the ‘big picture’ are crucial.

About you

Confident in your skills, you will be determined to deliver first-class internal communications campaigns that take into account the complexities of reaching internal audiences during times of change. You have a strong communications and/or marketing background, solid experience in internal comms and the credibility to win the trust of senior staff. What’s more, you understand the FSA’s purpose and the transformation that’s in progress. It’s important that you’re enthusiastic with good professional judgement. You will need the ability to work as part of a first-class internal communications team, challenge the status quo and to manage both senior and working-level stakeholder relationships. Crucially, you will be keen to innovate – and you won’t be afraid to take responsibility for critical decisions. Experience of equality, diversity and social media would be an advantage.

In return, you can expect an excellent benefits package and the chance to develop a long-term career at the FSA, and soon, the FCA.

Closing date: 22 November 2012.
