Our client is one of the world’s leading independent pharmaceutical companies. They are looking for a communications specialist to join their growing team. The main part of the role is to lead on the development and execution of communications strategies and tactics to support the company. You will also work with external agencies and the internal marketing and market access teams to optimise comms opportunities.

The successful candidate will have extensive pharmaceuticals communications experience – from in-house or agency – with excellent project management skills and the ability to deliver campaigns on time and to budget. You will need experience of creating and implementing PR plans to support brand launches plus experience of corporate communications and issues and crisis management. Strong writing and presentation skills are a must as is excellent interpersonal, influencing and networking skills. Experience of using web-based technologies, e-communications and incorporating digital strategies into broader communications campaigns would be a distinct advantage. Pharmaceutical or healthcare comms experience in the independent sector is vital.

On a day to day basis you will explore how the company can use digital communications channels, working within the ABPI Code of Practice. You will also seek opportunities to build on the reputation of the company through active dialogue with relevant stakeholders. You will be expected to develop communications plans to ensure maximum awareness, in the UK and Ireland, of the company’s global comms initiatives.  

The role requires someone who can ensure strategies and tactics are in line with overall business objectives, marketing and market access strategies and key success factors. This will include managing the day-to-day relationship with external agencies and ensure programmes are delivered on time and to budget. There is also a requirement for all programmes to be  measured and evaluated in line with corporate procedures and processes. You will also be required to ensure effective handling of issues arising or potentially having an impact on the media and develop briefings for stakeholders. You will work with internal communications colleague to ensure maximum awareness of brand and corporate milestones.
