If you enjoy the specialism of a boutique PR agency but want to big name clients of a global player then this role offers the best of both worlds. Working in a hugely credible crisis and issues team, as an Associate Director you will be leading PR crisis and issues planning as well as reactive activity for internationally recognisable brands. This role focusses more around issues such as a client putting out a faulty product or a food manufacturer responding to obesity issues and is not focussed around more general issues such as climate change or the environment. As a result it needs someone who can calm a media storm to prevent and manage negative coverage and advise senior people in large brand clients. This role offers clear progression to Director level for the right candidate.

This PR agency handles some of the biggest global clients and this role will be to plan, advise and implement crisis and issues strategies at the most senior level. This team is renowned as one of the best in the PR industry and has some incredibly talented and experienced staff.

The Role

Key challenges and opportunities in this crisis and issues PR Associate Director role:

  • Lead high profile brands on their communications strategies around managing crisis and issues both in the UK and across Europe
  • Develop key messaging strategies and ensure appropriate client spokespeople are fully prepared and media trained
  • Develop business plans with the MD to help grow the business unit and progress the company
  • Manage junior members of the team as well as provide support to wider colleagues in other teams
  • Work in partnership with clients to identify and plan for any issues so should a crisis occur there are clear and effective strategies in place
  • Work closely with UK national media and be able to manage press output for clients to ensure key messaging is 
  • As a key senior member within the PR agency, help win new business and develop colleagues

The Person

Key attributes and experience for this crisis and issues PR Associate Director role:

  • Working as an established Senior Account Director or Associate Director in a PR agency, managing corporate work for large consumer known companies
  • This role requires a proven track record of high level crisis and issues communications working both in crisis planning and managing continually evolving issues based situations
  • Be well networked within the media landscape and hold strong relationships with national and international journalists
  • Have senior level connections with the decision makers in prospective clients and the ability to grow new business within the PR agency
  • Ideally have experience working across big budget clients within food and drink, FMCG, retail, healthcare and travel sectors
  • Be confident and calm under pressure -  with the ability to evolve as a situation changes and advise at C and executive level on crisis strategies
  • A PR heavyweight with exceptional PR agency experience and a track record of managing a team
