The Corporate Affairs team manages our communication with internal and external audiences, and works closely with colleagues across the business to protect and enhance our reputation. The department is made up of several teams including Corporate Communications who manage our relations with business media and other communications activity including speeches, events and corporate publications.

This role is the lynchpin of the corporate communications team, working across the full range of the department's activities.

Key Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain media relations with key sector, business and trade press, proactively identifying relevant opportunities for communication and supporting on the response to incoming issues
* Draft press releases and presentations for external audiences
* Take responsibility for developing communications plans for selected corporate activity with all relevant supporting material including Q&As, messaging and recommended plans for distribution
* Work with other members of the team to provide effective and responsive press office functions
* Develop a corporate communications strategy around the key initiatives within the Bigger Picture that achieves real cut through and helps establish Sky as a leader in responsible and sustainable business
* Identify new ways to promote Sky as a leading British business that makes a significant and growing contribution to the UK
* Support on development of communications materials around financial results
* Help manage Sky's communications response to unexpected events and crises, liaising with other departments to understand the issues, agree and implement appropriate actions
* Support in preparing senior management for media activity and external speaking engagements

Significant experience of financial PR or corporate communications either in-house or agency side is essential, ideally with previous management and preparation of financial results and restructuring within a UK listed company. Financial literacy will be integral for this role with an understanding of the basics of the financial markets and calendar. We are looking for an individual with broad exposure working across consumer-facing sectors with proven experience of supporting a corporate organisation on projects that establish its credentials as a responsible business. The successful applicant must have outstanding communication skills and a proven track record in handling front-line media relations, working in a fast-paced organisation to tight deadlines. You will be a strong influencer with excellent writing and analytical skills along with sound judgement, understanding the importance of weighing up a number of conflicting views, and you must enjoy working collaboratively as part of a tight team.
