The Role 

To work as a media relations officer generating proactive media coverage and managing reactive media enquiries to increase the media influence of our client. Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining good relationships with media on behalf of our client and to use these to ensure that our client's views and priorities are reported as positively as possible, and that you are a respected spokesperson for the organisation.
  • To have a good grasp of technical and complex policy issues affecting the industry, and be able to turn technical complexity into clear messages which get traction with media.
  • To be a good written communicator capable of tailoring articles, comment, press releases, speeches and briefing to a wide range of audiences to get our message across.
  • To quickly build confident, professional relationships with your peers, making sure you can keep in close contact and add real value to members.

Candidate Specification

This person must have the ability to hit the ground running so good experience within a media relations role is a must. An understanding of the financial services sector will be an advantage and the ability to build productive professional relationships internally, particularly with journalists is essential.
