The Institute of Directors (IoD) is looking to recruit a Corporate Governance Advisor who will report to our Director of Corporate Governance and Professional Standards. This is a new role, and its primary objective is to help drive the IoD’s profile as a leading public commentator on Corporate Governance issues.

This role is about developing campaigns to get the IoD’s views through to all of our stakeholders and maximising the IoD’s profile on Corporate Governance issues; therefore, the ability to foster relationships with journalists, commentators, shareholder groups, politicians and IoD Members is essential. The successful candidate will be used to appearing in the media and will be able to actively seek out media related opportunities.

We are looking for someone with knowledge of corporate governance, developing policy and the role of a board, who will be an excellent communicator with at least 5 years’ experience in a media–facing public policy or business media role. They will have a background in one of the following areas: business journalism, public relations or investor relations.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Director General, the Policy Unit, Press Office and our Professional Development teams; the role will involve, writing reports, articles, speeches and consultation responses and will act as our key spokesperson on corporate governance issues. The role holder may also be involved in the teaching of governance and related business topics on our professional development courses, therefore previous teaching experience would be an advantage. Travel may be required.
