This is an outstanding opportunity to work with one of the best kept secrets in the south Midlands, which can offer you clients that you would normally only see in London or massive agencies combined with a hardworking yet inspirational atmosphere and a gorgeous rural setting.

Now, this role is amazing, but if you can’t drive or have an allergy to/phobia of dogs, it’s probably best that you stop reading here. Nestled in a beautiful Cotswolds town lies an agency with a real difference. At the heart of everything they do is PR and creative, and they really do it well. They rarely pitch – work comes through to them organically via satisfied customers or their incredible network of contacts – and they’re really growing. Their current portfolio of clients is broad, some retained and some ad hoc, but features some amazing names within leisure, sport, retail, b2b and manufacturing. Many of these clients have been completely rebranded by the agency, and all have noticed a major increase in business due to the innovative ideas that have been developed as a consequence of this agency really understanding what the client does.

So what will you be doing on a daily basis? The simple answer is, probably, never the same thing twice. Because of the breadth of the business you’ve got to be a really versatile person. You could be organising research into a client or organising mystery shopping groups; you could be writing copy for a website or briefing a photographer for a photoshoot; you could be developing and implementing social media or selling in your story to the relevant press. You’ll definitely be writing, and writing well, and your copy will find its way (by your own fair hand) into nationals, regional newspapers, trade magazines, and online publications.

When they get the chance to promote themselves as well as they do their clients, this consultancy will be the talk of the town, and they really do need good people to help them achieve their aims – but clearly you’re going to be more than ‘just’ a PR. First and aforementioned you will be experienced in PR, and whilst you probably haven’t got loads of experience in all the other bits and pieces we’ve listed above, you’ll be happy to learn them and give it your best shot – it’s not hard, and if you’re a true PR you’ll understand that it never stands alone. You’ll be a strong writer capable of writing longer articles which are grammatically accurate and show great attention to detail; you’ll be creative:  the agency thrives on developing new and exciting opportunities for their clients and you’ll be happy to assist them in this at all times.  You’ve got to be a good communicator: they’re a small team and their clients are nice so you need to want to be talking to them! You’re almost certainly working in an agency environment currently, but you won’t be too hung up about ‘agency culture’. In fact, apart from the amazing client list, this consultancy is probably the opposite of most PR companies: they work hard and have a real laugh whilst they’re doing it, but they like you to go home for the evening (and not immediately turn on your laptop), although they do like ambition and an interest in the industry. You’ll also be happy to muck in at all levels as and when required; the Directors make the tea and nip to the printers so you should expect to too!
