Do you have the senior level expertise to lead the communications that saves and improves lives? Then read on...

You’ll play a key role in raising NHS Blood and Transplant’s profile and increasing public awareness of blood, organ, tissue and stem cell donation. You will be the lead specialist for all areas of communications, including media handling and campaigning, internal communications and employee engagement as well as external affairs and stakeholder engagement. This role is integral to our public image. As our brand guardian, you will oversee our brand strategy and ensure the consistent delivery of brand and visual identity across the organisation. You’ll also work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop our communications strategy.

A seasoned communications professional and leader, you will bring a proven track record of strategic and operational communication planning and implementation across internal and external communications in a senior role in a complex organisation. Comfortable working across multiple internal and external stakeholder groups, you will have experience of delivering large-scale communications during periods of organisational change. An understanding of government departments and agencies will be vital. Your instinctive approach to communications, first-class judgement and sound media and political awareness will ensure you excel in this role.

Our dedicated team collects, tests, stores and delivers blood, plasma and tissue to every NHS Trust in England, as well as matching, allocating and analysing organ donations UK wide.  As an essential service, we’re committed to positive transformation and are currently embarking on an ambitious programme of change.

This is an excellent opportunity to make an impact in a high profile role, and in doing so enabling people in need to benefit from life-saving operations and treatments. Put simply, a chance to improve patients’ lives – and yours.
