A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a driven Communications Manager to become part of a lively and passionate Communications and Engagement team within a University Student Union. You will play a pivotal role within the Students Union, leading a tight-knit communications team to deliver the strategy as well as the communications operational plan. This role would suit a committed individual who is interested in charity, is passionate about education and feels confident managing a team.

As Communications Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the development and delivery of the Student Union’s communications, ensuring all communications are effective and relevant
  • Planning and delivering key organisational strategic communications campaigns
  • Leading the development and coordination of UWLSU key messaging and priorities in consultation with management team
  • Line-managing junior members of the team, and providing support for student officers on specific projects

A successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable understanding of communications theory, project management and how to use analytics to inform communications work
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • The desire to work within a democratic, student-led environment
  • A committed, positive, outgoing and approachable with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ideally some experience of managing a communications team and multiple projects
