Interviews will take place week commencing 2 July 2018 in London

Candidates will be asked to draft a brief (max two sides) in an hour in Plough Place London, ahead of their interview slot. We will provide details of the subject for the brief on the day. Candidates will be expected to make clear recommendations and provided an analysis of different approaches.

Job Purpose

The Big Lottery Fund is the largest community funder in the UK. Last year we distributed more than £700 million to over 13,000 life changing projects.

We are looking for an experienced external/public affairs professional who is passionate about communities and committed to sharing the good news stories of our projects at the national level.

You will have the chance to meet people from all walks of life, support local teams to deliver public affairs, lead on Parliamentary events, and build a cross-sector influencer programme covering political and non-political stakeholders.

You will be part of a small, dynamic team at the heart of the Big Lottery Fund, and one that has a big part to play in the delivery of our Strategic Framework.

The Fund offers a generous salary and benefits package, including a full Civil Service pension.

Person specification

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Experience of event management and delivery – for example, the ability to manage Parliamentary receptions, in-house events or roundtables.
  • Good political, legislative and policy awareness
  • Excellent relationship building skills and experience – including experience of effective engagement with senior stakeholders, civil servant and MPs  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of managing projects and/or contracts 
  • Line management experience
