About the PLSA
The Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association bring together the pensions industry and other parties to raise standards, share best practice, and support its members. They represent over 1,300 pension schemes with 20 million members and £1 trillion in assets, across master trusts, defined benefit, and defined contribution schemes, and local government funds. Members also include some 400 businesses which provide essential services and advice to UK pensions providers.
The PLSA's mission is to help everyone to achieve a better income in retirement. They work to get more people and money into retirement savings, to get more value out of those savings, and to build the confidence and understanding of savers.
The opportunity
The PLSA are hiring a PR & Social Media Officer to help drive and manage the PLSA's media - and social media - profiles, supporting its marketing and communications strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the PLSA's social media channels and working with traditional media to build the PLSA's reputation as the UK's leading authority on workplace pensions and lifetime savings. You will work closely with the Head of Communications and PR Manager in delivering both the PR and social media strategies.
Main responsibilities
- Work with the Head of Communications to deliver the PR and social media strategies
- Post to and monitor a range of social media accounts, and react to external new in a timely way
- Advise colleague on social media tactics and make recommendations on how social media can support wider Marketing & Communications campaigns
- Support on media relations campaigns for key projects which generate positive and widespread media coverage
- Support the PR Manager in editorial scheduling, including writing highly readable articles about often very technical subjects
Key skills and experience required
- Minimum two years' experience in a similar role covering both PR and social media
- Proven ability of creating and managing social media campaigns, as well as an understanding of paid for social and promoted tweets
- In depth understanding of various social media platforms including a thorough understanding of guidelines and policies
- Familiarity with the UK financial services sector and media and in interest in the pensions sector
- Experience of translating complex information into newsworthy, comprehensible, content for media and consumers
