About us;

Greater Manchester is one of the most exciting places in the country to work today. It’s always been a place of progressive thinking and pioneering ideas. In 2018 it’s at the heart of the devolution journey, a prominent voice for the North and a city region with a clear and ambitious vision to become one of the best places in the world.

Our unique integrated communications team is at the centre of this new world. We look after Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester Bev Hughes, Greater Manchester Combined Authority including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, as well as the leaders and chief executives of our ten Greater Manchester councils in their regional roles delivering our ambitious plans.

We work alongside communications colleagues in Transport for Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Police, the Local Enterprise Partnership and the Health and Social Care Partnership as well as the councils, NHS and voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.

And we’re now looking for someone who shares our passion for Greater Manchester – and the collaboration which will enable us to achieve our vision - to join us and boost our work to demonstrate the difference that devolution is making here.

Your role:

This is a high profile and demanding role working closely with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and GMCA leadership, including the Chief Fire Officer, as well as wider partners to handle significant local, regional, national and international media activity and manage the huge interest in Greater Manchester.

If you want to put your creative, collaborative and communications skills to the test day in and day out, and if you’re comfortable leading a media team in a fast paced, complex, politically sensitive and rapidly changing environment, then this is the role for you.

It’s a unique opportunity in public sector communications for the right person.

For an informal chat please contact Claire Norman, Director of Communications and Engagement, Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, on 07973 876308
Closing date midnight Sunday September 2, 2018. Interviews will be held on Wednesday September 19th, 2018.
