The GCCA

The world is rapidly changing, by 2050 the global population is expected to reach 9 billion. Over the course of the next 15 years, it is predicted that an additional 1.1 billion people will move into urban, city environments. This is a remarkable shift and requires construction and growth on an unprecedented scale. Cement and Concrete, the world’s most used man-made product, will be pivotal in providing the solution to the challenges caused by such growth. What is more, it is a material which is environmentally sustainable, durable and resilient. Launched in January 2018, the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) is dedicated to developing and strengthening the sector’s contribution to sustainable construction. The new Director of Policy and Communications will play a crucial part in working as an influential member of the Executive. They will use their own ambition and drive to assist in building a global membership association from its very earliest moments to the point when their voice is truly heard on the global stage.

The role of Director of Communications and Policy

As the Director of Communications and Policy, you will work with the CEO to develop a highly effective advocacy and outreach strategy for the GCCA encompassing communications, media, policy and partnerships. The role provides an opportunity to significantly influence the development of this strategy from its inception.

To Qualify for the opportunity of Director of Communications and Policy

To qualify for the position of Director of Communications and Policy you will:

  • Credibility to act at a global level on behalf of a major industry.
  • Recognised and demonstrable excellence in communications, public affairs, policy campaigning and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience of tier 1 media networking and relationship development.
  • Experience with modern communication channels and social media.
  • Demonstrable skills and experience in identifying and developing relationships with strategic partners.
  • Exceptional diplomacy and political skills.
  • Networking experience with international sustainability, intergovernmental and business organisations.
  • The strong strategic mindset with the ability to plan ahead and implement work programmes effectively.
