The ATI is a unique organisation within the UK aerospace sector. Established by Government and industry, we define the UK’s strategy for civil aerospace technology and guide investment into research & technology programmes.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the key responsibilities of the Communications Manager will include:

  • Working closely with the wider team to write or oversee the production of newsletters, blogs, by-lined articles and case studies
  • Promoting the organisation’s work across social media channels and digital assets, including photography and video
  • Research and preparation of briefing notes for key team members to support their media engagements
  • Media relations - preparing press releases and case studies and dealing directly with journalists to “sell in” stories about the ATI
  • Reactive media handling - dealing with calls from journalists and liaising with members of the ATI team to ensure appropriate and timely responses
  • Evaluating opportunities for team members to speak at both ATI-hosted and third-party events and helping them to prepare
  • Working alongside the Communications Manager (Events & Marketing) to ensure that exhibition stands, presentations, and marketing collateral are consistent with the ATI brand, and helping manage events
  • Supporting the wider team by maintaining and building efficient communications systems and processes, including maintaining accurate contact databases and performance metrics
  • Working with the Head of Communications to manage the work of external agencies, including design and branding specialists

The role is based in Cranfield, near Milton Keynes, but requires regular visits to the London office and to other events held away from the office (including Farnborough International Airshow).

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Have good experience in a press office or B2B communications team, ideally within aerospace or technology-related sectors;
  • Be able to write to a very high standard;
  • Be a dynamic self-starter who can manage your own workload and respond to enquiries in a timely fashion;
  • Be personable, positive and able to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
