You will be responsible for the provision of an effective internal, external and stakeholder communications support service to both regional units, ensuring multiple audiences are well informed of the work being done to keep our communities safe.

Key to the role is working with other police forces across the South East to support, collaborate and coordinate communications relating to Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime related matters.

The UK is facing an unprecedented threat from terrorism and organised criminals can cause significant harm to our communities, which means you and your team will face complex communication challenges every day.

To join our department you will have a nationally recognised qualification in communications, public relations, journalism or management or equivalent communications experience. You will have experience of managing, motivating and developing a team, you will be able to demonstrate recent and proven communication experience in the area of media relations, crisis management, campaigns and employee communication/engagement in a large public, private sector or high profile organisation. Previous experience in policing or government would be an advantage.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network so the role holder must have the capability to travel to different locations primarily across the South East region whilst being able to work flexibly and unsociable hours.

You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or do not acquire the appropriate security clearances and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. As such, in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (SC) and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

This is your opportunity to use your leadership and communications skills to make a real contribution to keeping communities across the South East safe from terrorism and organised crime.
