We are looking for a Head of Consumer PR, who wants the challenge of changing the perception of a nationwide,  consumer facing organisation.

Key tasks / responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of a PR content plan, ensuring it is properly informed by insight, to drive the production of proactive consumer media content
  • Ensure such content is properly targeted, both at a consumer and outlet level, and oversee the sell-in of this content accordingly (both directly and via the PR agency)
  • Work with the Head of Insight to ensure a robust measurement and evaluation framework for proactive PR and paid media partnerships is in place
  • Work closely with and provide project leadership to the retained PR agency
  • Ensure that at a project level, the PR agency are properly and comprehensively briefed, deliver against brief and targets, with results rigorously evaluated
  • Work with the contribution of the Head of Brand & Advertising and the media agency to lead a programme of paid media partnerships and oversee the production of this content, working collaboratively with media owners
  • Work closely with the Head of Brand & Advertising to ensure that all paid partnership content is aligned with agreed marketing frameworks and that claims are accurate and appropriately substantiated
  • Provide line management to the Consumer PR Managers in your team
  • Assist the Director of Public Relations and Digital Media in the production of an annual PR and digital media plan, in line with the broad business plan, to meet organisational KPIs as defined in the performance management framework
  • Work closely with the Head of News to ensure that your team works seamlessly with the reactive media team, that there is a joined up approach to managing key media contacts, and that public positions and lines are agreed and enforced
  • Report on the effectiveness of proactive PR and paid media partnerships to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Be a full member of the management group and play a positive and proactive role in the management of the organisation and campaign

 

Skills, experience and competencies

 

  • You will have held a senior level position responsible for proactive PR for a high profile consumer facing organisation (in house and/or in agency)
  • You will be able to demonstrate significant experience and success in producing proactive consumer PR content and securing high levels of quality earned media coverage
  • Experience of working with a PR agency
  • Demonstrable experience/ability to develop relationships with senior journalists/editorial staff at leading media organisations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Appreciation of the objectives and activities of the company
