Water UK advert for Communications Officer

The water industry’s public profile has increased dramatically. Politicians, regulators and the public are all taking a keener interest in the provision of water, and Water UK – the trade body representing the industry – is strengthening its communications operation to meet the challenge.

We are looking for three excellent communicators with strong campaigning, media, public affairs and digital skills to proactively manage the industry’s reputation. The successful candidates will have substantial influence over shaping and delivering an ambitious communications and engagement strategy at an incredibly important time for the sector.

You will work closely with colleagues from across the industry on major issues – whether it’s communicating the industry’s excellent record, challenging the arguments for nationalisation of the industry in England, or addressing the threats posed by climate change, population growth and increased demand for water.

Communications Officer (£30k - £35k DOE + up to 25% performance-related bonus)

The Communications Officer will support the work of the Communications Managers in delivering Water UK’s media relations and public affairs work, as well as maintaining and developing the content of our websites and social media channels. They will be a sharp media operator with a keen news sense and have a sound knowledge of social media tools and design software.

All roles will report to the Director of Corporate Affairs. In addition to the pay and bonus package, there are generous benefits such as private healthcare, pension and 27 days holiday.

How to apply

To apply for these roles please provide a full CV and a letter of not more than two sides of A4 explaining which role you are interested in, why you are interested in it, and evidence of how your experience would be a good fit for the job. Application deadline: 17:00 hours on Friday 26th October 2018.
