This is a great opportunity to develop your news and media skills as part of a busy media team with the world’s leading conservation body.  As a Press Office Executive for the WWF UK we want you to help put our core issues on the political agenda and build a movement of people to support our cause and ensure change.

Working in media team, alongside PR colleagues, you will be focussed on supporting the news team to proactively generating positive and agenda-setting coverage of WWF’s work in advocacy, campaigns, and fundraising. You will help influence real change for our world by supporting the day to day running of the press office. This will involve assisting secure coverage within a variety of media types such as online, trade and regional. You will also act as a first point of contact for media enquiries and escalate any as appropriate. You will have the opportunity to get involved in pitching stories and ideas to media outlets too. In this role you will develop your skills by participating in key media projects and by implementing media plans, writing press releases and drafting key messages. We will also look to you to stay in touch with the media landscape and monitor the daily media cycle on environmental issues. You will contribute to developing and implementing digital strategies too. You will oversee and maintain all of WWF-UK’s media evaluation system and processes weekly and provide monthly reports of successes.

Comfortable writing high quality content, you will possess excellent communication skills and the confidence to develop relationships with journalists.

A self-starter, with flexible and positive working attitude, you will excel at building internal relationships and managing deadlines. Good at prioritising, you will have good planning skills, a strong understanding of the UK media landscape, including digital, and a passion for nature and the environment. You will also have a flexible approach and able to work out-of-hours as duty press officer on call on a rota basis with the rest of the media team.. A relevant degree would be an advantage too.

Who are we?

WWF believes in a future where people and nature thrive.

Best known as the world’s leading conservation body, we’ve seen first-hand how wildlife, the environment and human activity are all interlinked.

That’s why our passion for safeguarding the natural world has to be backed up by other environmental action – tackling the global threat of climate change (through our big global campaigns like Earth Hour) and helping people to change the way they live to ease pressure on natural resources.

WWF is at the heart of global activities in all these areas. We have teams of highly skilled professionals working with governments, businesses and communities here in the UK and around the world.
