One of the UK’s most inspiring and best known faith-based organisations, The Salvation Army, is looking for a Head of PR & Communications to be responsible for raising the profile of its work, mission and impact across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. As well as promoting it as a modern and relevant church and charity that’s committed to social action, you’ll lead a team, liaise with the media, manage our reputation and much more too.

Key Responsibilities:

We will rely on you to ensure high quality communications across all channels and provide senior leadership and strategic direction to the Media & PR and Digital teams via insightful and results-oriented management and strategic direction. You will also be responsible for each team’s performance in line with our new PR & Communications strategy. And, when it comes to making a game changing contribution to the strategic management and operational delivery of our Communications Service as a whole, again, we will count on you to deliver.

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

  • Substantial experience of successfully managing PR and media related campaigns operations to raise profile, clarify complex brands and effect brand perception change
  • An impressive background in a senior management role, including leading, managing and developing a team and devising and delivering communications strategies within a national charity
  • A flair for applying strategic and creative thinking with an integrated approach to marketing communications and experience of reputation management and developing, monitoring and managing budgets.
  • A track record gained working with senior leadership to clarify issues, agree positions, train leaders in media handling and delivery, developing corporate websites and using digital social media to achieve communications objectives.
  • The all –round communication skills it takes to identify and build effective working relationships and networks within a corporate environment and working collaboratively to achieve shared objectives.
