Job Details

Lumos is an international non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded by J.K. Rowling. Our vision is of a world where all children have the opportunity to grow up and thrive in loving, nurturing, protective families.  We believe that children belong in families not orphanages and we aim to achieve our vision by 2050. We will do this by casting light onto the causes of institutionalisation and producing high-quality, compelling evidence of our long term, sustainable solutions.

This role offers an opportunity to impact on our profile in both the UK and overseas. Leading a high-performing, dedicated Press Office, you will help to shape a forward-thinking, digital-first environment, bringing a keen awareness of how to identify the right stories, engage the right people, and inspire the right kind of coverage.  From creating compelling content through to building a network of journalists and influencers across a number of countries, you will be instrumental in highlighting and disseminating the vital work that Lumos does around the world.

The right candidate will be an exceptional writer who knows how to unearth and bring to life a great success story. Alongside your excellent writing skills, you’ll also have strong experience of building relationships with a range of journalists and influencers. You must also be a capable project manager, working closely with the Digital Manager and the wider Communications team to maximise channels, manage film and photo shoots and pitch new ideas to the UK and international press. The work that we do is critical; your role will be too - ensuring that our goals, achievements and aspirations are taken to audiences around the world in a consistent, inspiring and genuinely captivating way.  Knowledge of youth marketing techniques is desirable.

Company

Lumos is a registered charity working to transform the lives of disadvantaged children by facilitating the end of institutional care.

We want to see children living in safe, caring environments. We believe this should be the case for all children, whether they are disabled, from an ethnic minority or from an impoverished background.

Our purpose is to ensure that, by 2030, all children in Europe will be living in family settings or specialised placements that meet all their needs, respect their rights and ensure they can develop to their full potential.
